I made this illustration at a time when I was trying to recover my creativity. At the time I felt blocked, so I decided to take a day to leave myself completely free, the only rule was to have as much fun as possible. It turned out that I really enjoyed the process and the result. I've been doing a lot of symmetrical art (kind of) with a central element. It's almost a portrait to the soul of the being at the center, as if everything around it reflected some aspect of it, or perhaps of me, because I always place myself in my art. Maybe that's why sometimes I struggle so much to illustrate. Oh and that whole day I spent listening to Mandragora at maximum volume hahaha I think that had some influence at the result.
This was one of the firsts illustrations I made in Adobe Illustrator! I was testing shapes and tools, it was a lot of work but I enjoyed the process :)
My idea was to create an atmosphere, a story, an idea. To propose interpretations, contradictions.
It took a while for me to make a illustration of rock climbing, as it means so much in my life... I drew it as a point of convergence, since it's the feeling I get when I'm climbing. It's like the whole world fits in this moment. Nothing else matters other than the next move. I guess this is the real feeling of being alive.
This illustration was made for an underground bar, to promote an event on their instagram. It was a very fun process, where I had complete freedom as long as I respected these: - stay in their color palette (4 colors only 😳); - the theme of the event: back from vacation.
