Portraits: Sydney Writers Festival
I love taking portraits. The old fashioned way that is! Square format, simple plain backdrop, just me and them. No hair, no makeup, no client, no retouching.
Penn, Avedon, and my all time favourite John Deakin were the true masters at it. Steve Pyke, a photographer whom I assisted in London in the early 80's was another.
These portraits were all taken at the Sydney Writers Festival. Shot on film (1 roll per person) using available light on my trusty old rolliflex.
