History and Unique Architecture of the Museum of Cham Sculpture

The first building of the Museum was built in 1915 by two French architects, Auclair and Delaval, who agreed to design it. In addition, it was suggested by Henri Parmentier, the former dean of the Department of Archeology at the EFEO (French School of the Far East of the Ancients) at that time. Today, after many years of war, the architecture of the building is still almost intact without any renovation or modification.

When you visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture, you can not only learn about Vietnam’s history through antiques. But more than that, you can also immerse yourself in the wonderful architectural space that harmonizes French and Asian features.

In the mid-1930s, the first expansion of the Cham Pa Sculpture Museum was carried out.
The purpose is to turn the space of the old museum into thematic galleries such as Tra Kieu room, Dong Duong room, My Son room, and Thap Ma room, and form corridors named after landmarks such as Kontum, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, and Quang Nam, which exist to this day.

The last time was in 2016, when this place had fully restored buildings and upgraded the exhibition areas. In addition, there is space for performances, educational activities, and service areas.
