Mnemosyne Premise Apartments
The Mnemosyne Premise Apartments project, asked us to design two conjoining apartments that could open into one large apartment. The client would like to rent out one apartment on occasion and will need each apartment to be separated and opened in a unique way that is functional and attends to the aesthetic design of each dwelling. Use of sophisticated and earthy materials that create a calm living environment is desired, along with minimal electronic clutter.

This project involves designing two conjoining apartments that can open into one large apartment. Developed within the constraints of the existing structural elements, the spatial planning allowed the apartments to remain unique to their functionality but cater to guests and family. Located in Edgecliff on a busy street, my design is crafted to ensure both privacy and peace by utilizing soft material finishes such as warm timbers and sheer curtains. Double glazed, floor to ceiling windows allow the harbor view to pour in when revealed and however, block the bustling city noise.

Fine dark oak timber is used to frame windows and Tobacco Oak is used for custom joinery in the robes and pantry. Copper finishes transform the lower joinery and island bench into a stunning visual element that features in both apartments. In both apartments, electronics are hidden with inbuilt wireless charging ports and an elevator system is used to conceal the TV into a minimal joinery design.
