SHOOT 7
This was another walk I took my camera on. It was midday and cloudy so the sky provided a white backdrop. The aim for this shoot was just to take more images of outside for the liminal spaces part of the project. In addition, I like how nature can represent turmoil and distress, on days like these with the wind and grey sky.
I don't think any of these images are overly interesting, there's maybe one or two that I could use but as a whole this wasn't a very successful shoot.
Many of the images have poor composition, such as the photos of ragworth (yellow flower) where the foliage takes up the whole of the image. There is no specific focal point or structure to the image.
This half has a few more successful photos (see the below working images). But again, the full shots of foliage do not work and are boring. I think whether or not some of these photos work will be dependent on the other photographs used in the book (or whatever outcome is).
In these photos, branches of yellow leaves bluster against the darker green trees behind. I like how the yellow stands out against the background, besides the aestheticism, it feels like a black sheep metaphor.
This is my favourite image from the shoot, the foreground of thistles is out of focus, but create a nice silhouette against the grey sky. I intend to edit this so that the purple heads of the thistles and green stems stand out more, and brighten the image as it is too dark currently.
