"A Cache of Media Studies"

Created over the summers of 2021 and 2022, and ordered chronologically, each of these works utilized a different media I wanted to explore. 

One uses acrylic paint, one uses tempera paint, another uses only acrylic paint, the last uses soft pastels or chalk pastel. 

I really like how freeing these experiments were. While I'm not satisfied with wasting materials and creating nothing with an experiment, the bar was low for these works. All of them were created in a frenzy over the course of one sitting; none of them took much longer then an hour. This element of spontaneity is obvious, of course - all of the expressions are pretty crude - and yet I find value in their honesty. Besides, abstract works which don't seek to challenge some skill are essential in blowing off steam. Art has always been an outlet for stress for me, and these images are more a product of this function then perhaps any other.
