Clean Up for animation - practice

Examples of CleanUp work (practice)
This is the original rough I found.
Here is the character sheet I used as a style guide for the clean up.
And here is my clean up created in Procreate, using one of their pencil brushes.
This is another rough I found for clean up.
Although I had a character sheet it was too grainy to get a proper understanding of the style and line weight, so I decided to use this finished cell as my style guide this time.
And here is my finished clean up created in procreate. It was interesting and difficult to create the same line weights as seen in the finished cell, and also difficult trying to choose the right brush to use to mimic the cell’s line texture.
The next rough for clean up, this time going with a different franchise.
I used this character page for my style guide.
This time I used an inking brush in procreate rather than a sketch brush since the show is a inked and coloured digitally it has a more modern look to the clean line work. Also from the style guide it looks like there isn’t any tapering to the line nor is there much difference in line weight.
The next clean up is of a more stylised film, here is the rough I used (it is a rough from a character sheet rather than a cel from the film).
I used an image from the film as my style guide this time.
For this style I once again used an inking brush in procreate, and again the line weight is fairly static with some subtle exceptions, they eyes being the most noticeable.
Back to Disney characters with this rough of Bianca.
I used a cel and a character sheet of Bianca as my style guide.
The cleaned up drawing. This one was similar to Robin Hood with the ‘sketchyness’ of the line.
I found another rougher drawing of Rabbit so I tried to clean this one up too using the same guide, line weight and brush as the first Rabbit clean up.
This time I found some anime roughs to clean up.
I used two pictures from the anime to get a sense of the line weight for this clean up.
I think I needed a clearer style guide for this clean up since I don’t think my clean looks close enough to the reference I used.
Another anime rough, this one is rougher than the previous.
I used three references for this clean up since it’s such a long running show with several interactions, so I had to pick an choose the style for the clean up.
It was difficult to clean this one up, especially the skirt area, I feel as though I should have used a different brush that was a little more to capture the same look as the references.
