Cake & Bubbles is a small gastrobar housed within the walls of the historic mansion ‘The Third Place’ in the centre of St. Petersburg. The concept behind the gastrobar brings together delicious breakfasts and desserts in the morning with sparkling wine and small snacks in the evening.

The space itself originally had stunning features: the entrance through the colonnade of the courtyard, historic brick walls with fragments of arched masonry, and most importantly, a wooden beamed ceiling from the early 19th century. We wanted to preserve this aesthetic and the spirit of the place as much as possible, and this was the foundation for the interior concept.
The idea was to minimally interfere with the existing contour of the room. And, where necessary, to use concise and contrasting elements. These elements are neat, smooth partitions, which help to shape the space, complement it, and at the same time accentuate the uniqueness of the room.
And to enhance the effect of the untouched historic surrounding, we intentionally placed new elements at a small

In trying to fit all the necessary technology areas into such a small space, we decided to leave the kitchen area open, but position it in an unusual way. The kitchen stretches along one of the walls, penetrating the two parts of the room and visually uniting them. We loved the resulting effect of a simple domestic space, where you see everything that is being cooked by the homeowner.
All the surroundings and most of the furniture are simple and minimalist. And against such a backdrop, bright accents appear. These are elements cast in concrete mortars of different colours, with artefacts embedded in them. They resemble some kind of layered desserts - bright and coloured; and this alludes to the name of the place.
