CHALLENGE
Visually interpret a given article of text and create an image and layout for a double page in a magazine selected from a list of magazines provided.
SOLUTION
I chose the article “the happiness effect” and illustrated a simple succulent plant based on its strength, resilience and known health benefits. I designed my layout for the Frankie magazine to have an easy to read design and layout with a simple illustration that would compliment the magazine’s style.
Overall the minimalistic illustration coupled with Frankie’s minimal layout helps to focus the attention of the reader on the article and imagery.
CHALLENGE
Create a double-paged spread of my own experience of how I handled the Covid-19 lockdown.
SOLUTION
I showed how my family and I coped during locked through, being fortunate in having a large garden, and gardening outdoors in the fresh air. I illustrated a succulent plant that I propagated including a spade that is still around from my childhood to showcase how my family and I looked forward to growing and new hope.
Overall I used contrasting colours to make them stand out and showcase how I adjusted.
