In some villages where the sex ratio has dropped drastically men wait eagerly for brides. Poverty and desperation has lead people from other smaller villages to sell their daughters and sisters to be brides for these frustrated men. The expression in the black brides eyes is to remind people of the existence of women as people and not objects.
