"Journeys of Creative Public Utility"
A cartography of creativity
A proposal to explore creativity. Approaches to guide directions, meanings and establish a certain order to seemingly complex directions. The idea is to highlight a reality and to verify that affirming, denying or contradicting can be part of the same activity. Without fear of joining opposites and separating synchronicities, it is about seeing from afar the path that we do not know up close.
1 – Open
Everything starts from the beginning, just like thought. And it never comes unless we look for it. Nothing is more difficult. The beginning of the cycle "Journeys of Creative Public Utility", has as a first step to open. An attitude of transigence essential to take a first step towards a journey of understanding everything. Everything? To open implies execution, discovery and contact with something closed and inaccessible to the naked eye. We ourselves, is that the case?
2 – Perceiving
A second phase for the cycle "Journeys of Creative Public Utility" is 'Perceiving'. After opening up and being able to develop a certain level of compromise even with the unknown, it becomes necessary to grasp through reality and experience. What is observed, heard, smelled, tasted and felt. It is the way the brain interprets the physical reality of the environment. An invitation to seek creativity in our senses. Very five senses.
3 – Philosophizing
The third phase of the cycle "Journeys of Creative Public Utility" is 'Philosophizing'. Reason or experience? Feeling or thinking the world? Where is truth? It is from questions like these that thought is born. That is what philosophizing is all about, and we have been doing it for at least 2,600 years. In moments of complexity like these, questions reappear and thinking about reality for oneself becomes subversive. As simple, dangerous and creative as this.
4 – Rambling
When 'Perceiving' and 'Philosophizing', experience and reason, turn out to be cumbersome and asymmetrical, and an absurd and confused feeling soon appears, it is time for a detour. Contradictions and paradoxes are born. The beginning of Creativity. Thus is born the 'Rambling'. The fourth stage of the cycle "Journeys of Creative Public Utility". Allowing oneself to digress is key to search for the unpredictable. To go in search of other meanings from a divergent and random thought. An attitude of distancing that is not at all rigorous, because when we get out of the way, discoveries begin.
5 – Connect
The fifth stage of the "Journeys of Creative Public Utility" cycle is 'Connect'. After experimenting and reasoning, while allowing ourselves to wander, we will return. It is about returning to the center and using all those discoveries as a connection. Everything in life is about connecting. Generating connections and links, relating things and even generating ties where it is not usual. It is the closest thing to creativity. New worlds, values and surprises emerge. Present worlds with past, past with futures and futures with artichokes waiting for the train. Everything is possible.
6 – Create
Finishing this journey, "Journeys of Creative Public Utility" arrives at the last stage, 'Create'. It is the final path of openings and perceptions, the expected conclusion of long reflections and disparate digressions. The result of connections, a denouement, but it is also a beginning that returns and begins its cycle again. Creativity is always, because it is always born, daily and everywhere. It is just there what arises, what is found or what flows naturally. To create creativity? No. To think creativity? Yes. It is encounter, but also conscious work. Courage and novelty that arises from within and travels to desired places or to infinite possibilities.
