AGDA: A Guide to Professional Graphic Design Practice

For my design I decided to focus on 3D typography and black and white minimalism, with the first page having a strong visual and the inside spread being stripped back. For the opening page I created a flip book effect with the type flipped/reflected to look like it is coming off the page. I decided to create a symmetrical composition, which is harmonious and makes a bold statement. The gradient white/grey letters contrast against the stark, saturated black background. The 3D type uses repetition and paper, providing movement and a unified look. I decided to then contrast the inside spread with a stark white background and large letters surrounding the type, drawing the eye in. These letters relate back to the 1st page but are more refined and simpler. I then decided to use 4 columns of text with certain areas having more experimental type considerations (large, bold, italic, big too small, increased/decreased leading and kerning, lighter grey colours). This was an intentional design choice to add some character and emphasis on certain words, providing visual interest and complexity to a large section of text. I wanted everything to have purpose and look intentional and no unnecessary elements. I added some line additions to the letters which I think add a unique detail to the design. I also took proportion int consideration where all the visual elements appear to belong together and complement each other to create a visually balanced and simplistic, yet complex design.
