This was a painting I did of my childhood stuffed rabbit. I wanted to juxtapose the pointed, staring eye with the textured, stylized fur of a loved childhood stuffed animal. My initial intent was to remark on something like a coming of age, or a loss of innocence, but now it makes me think on ways that we view our childhood with rose tinted glasses. That often times, we overlook the unpleasant parts of being a kid for the greater, much more satisfying ideal of what it means to be a kid. There's often an ugly truth to those memories.
