Description:
The designers need to design an experimental editorial format putting in practice the knowledge. They have to start from the brief on "Future Magazine" topic, perform research on contents and formats, define the creative idea and create a prototype.
Manifesto:
Heartbreaking images coming from Ukraine show the destruction and damage caused by the Russian invasion. As the cities look unrecognisable, here's a before and after comparison of the same spots to give a sense of the scale of destruction caused by heavy shelling.
Aim Of The Magazine:
To show the impact caused by the Russian forces.
‘‘Highlight how they changed the country’s life cycle’’
The Key Elements:
There are 2 different sleeves on each page of the magazine. These functions are divided into front layer and back layer. The back layer contains texts with a b&w photo and information about the destroyed site. The front layer contains ,colored print on transparent paper. These colored graphics, when overlaid onto the back layer, recreate the images using illustrations.
WITHOUT the transparent layer
WITH the transparent layer
As a graphic designer, I would say that the overlay serves as a visual representation of a transitional phase, taking into account the current state of the (devastated) urban environment. To execute this, a traditional technique such as “colorization” may be utilized through the overlay. In contrast, the use of “illustrations” employs a metaphorical interpretation, highlighting the role of human intervention in the rebuilding process of the various components of the city.
Grid System
Social Media Campaign
In the middle of the magazine, there is a transparent sheet, in the form of a postcard frame, that can be ripped by the reader.
By ripping the page, you can use the postcard and take photos of the places that you will visit. By posting it on social media while using #decoloredukraine you will get a chance to be published on the Decolored Ukraine social media page.
