A series of images taken while filming an documentary about tropical glaciers in the Rwenzori mountains in Uganda.
Weather conditions changed, and the guides said we couldn’t continue up to the glacier. So the main hut in the Margarita camp became our shelter for the next days as outside snow and rain took their turns.
We sat around a little stove with books and talked about the plans for the next couple of days.
Our guides and porters gathered in the other part of the hut, which we called the kitchen, and played a game of cards that none of us understood. They played all the time while we waited for better weather.

On our way down, back to the Kilembe village, we met a group of children living nearby the road leading to the mountain trails. They played cards by their house as our group crossed almost through their garden.
They played the same game as our guides in the mountains. Those children watch the guides go to and from the mountains now and then.
Today they play the game down in the village. However, in the future, some of these boys will play with their heroes up in the mountains.
