Florya, while he is still just a 14 year old boy (2010)

Glasha (2010)
oil on canvas

I experimented with thin layers of paint, which I wiped out again and again, working very fast to keep a certain freshness to make sure the colours wouldn't mix.

The thing about the movie was that there were minutes long close ups of the characters while they were trying to say something to each other. They could not understand each other because their ears were ringing after a bombardment. Problem was also that they did not know each other very well and were a bit embarrassed by their behavior. As a viewer it was also quite embarrassing, because it's simply not done to look so close at a strangers face.
Katya (2010)
oil on canvas
50 x 60

Not part of the movie, but the picture made me think of it.
In these paintings I used a lot of white spirit and no medium. Now I use the white spirit just to erase. Problem is that medium gives a beautiful glow, but in a way is more difficult to control in combination with white spirit. I need to make the paint as wet and thin as possible in order to be able to erase it where needed.
XXX (2011)
oil on canvas
70 x 50

This one doesn't belong to the above serie, but it's an example of lots of medium and just a bit of white spirit. I'm not sure about this one neither, maybe it's a bit to realistic to my taste. I don't know.

in your face

The start of a series of smaller paintings containing just the one face. Along the way I changed the technique a bit.
