CAT CALENDAR 2023
A project celebrating the upcoming Lunar New Year in 2023. According to the Lunar Calendar in Vietnamese Culture, 2023 is the Year of the Cat (a different zodiac to the Rabbit in other countries).

THE ADVENTURES OF TWO CATS - XÁM & NÂU
ACROSS THE PROVINCES OF VIETNAM
In this journey of travel and discovery, the cats introduce us to many distinctive fruits and specialties in these provinces. These are the most famous and delicious fruits in each region, in sync with particular months in the calendar.
The general concept involves 2 main elements - Cats & Fruits - with the hope of introducing and intriguing more people in visiting these beautiful provinces in Vietnam. The places are not only visually beautiful, but also rich in tastes and culture.
For example, October centres around the harvesting season of Dragon Fruit (famous in Bình Thuận province, in the middle of Vietnam). The special farming structure - of farmers using artificial grow lights to nurture these plants at night - is shown in the illustration.

MARCH - Pineapple (Tháng Ba - Dứa Đồng Giao - Ninh Bình)
APRIL - Peach (Tháng Tư - Đào Bích Nhị Sapa - Lào Cai)
MAY - Plum (Tháng Năm - Mận Hậu - Mộc Châu)
JUNE - Avocado (Tháng Sáu - Bơ Sáp - Đak Lak)
JULY - Lychee (Tháng Bảy - Vải Thanh Hà - Hải Dương)
AUGUST - Durian (Tháng Tám - Sầu Riêng Ri6 - Đồng Nai)
SEPTEMBER - Grapes (Tháng Chín - Nho Phan Rang - Ninh Thuận)
OCTOBER - Dragon Fruit (Tháng Mười - Thanh Long - Bình Thuận)
NOVEMBER - Coconut (Tháng Mười Một - Dừa Sáp Cầu Kè - Trà Vinh)
DECEMBER - Orange (Tháng Mười Hai - Cam Sành - Hà Giang)
CREATING PROCESS
The ideas were planned out in pencil sketches, carefully showing different types of fruit fields, gardens and nurturing homes across the country of Vietnam. The two main characters took many kinds of transportation, wore regional clothing and accessories.
Then the sketches were colored and finalized in Procreate. Adaptations and adjustments for printing were added in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator later on.
