Recently we - Designatives - were approached by the crypto validator SG-1 with a very nice brief.
As their name implies they are big fans of the Stargate universe and they asked us to create a website for them with a vivid, unique version of this theme illustrating it.

I was given a free hand for the illustrations
and I pretty much knew from the start what kind of world I'd like to create: a joyful, retro-futuristic, stylized cartoon one of course.

Sketches
I convinced my teammates with the 10 minutes sketch on the left then we used the detailed one to sell the visual to the client too. As you can see nearly every detail was already present here.

Services

For these secondary illustrations I had to come up with authentic scenes from this world which correspond with the very abstract concepts of the client's services. I also wanted to play with the frames with always having an element popping out of it but if the scene let it happen then an object itself could form the frame.

SG-1 Validator Setup
The last illustration I had to make was for a complex topic with numerous different sub-elements listed.
So I imagined this as "the preparation before a mission" where the scientists check all the equipments one last time.

A fun little detail as a farewell:
I spent some time creating the landscape for the "Monitoring" llustration alhough it's barely visible in the end because of the strong CRT effect I used on the screen. But it feels right this way so it did worth every minute for me! :)
