RE-IMAGINING THE LOOK AND USE OF A SILO
The design was inspired by the form of a traditional silo. Traditionally it is a cylindrical form that has no openings other than the one entrance door. I then cut up this cylindrical form into spirals to create openings for light and ventilation to enter into the space, these spirals then formed the facade of the building. Which also dictated how the spaces on the inside would be. This whole intervention consists of a number of spaces, the Theatre of Dreams, This design serves as a multi cultural centre for the residents of Tlokweng Village. The 3-legged diner, a convenience store, an admin block, and lastly the informal trade market.
