In my materials & techniques class, I learned about a process that involves aging varnish & cracking varnish, along with materials that help act as a resist to watercolor paints. This technique really took me out of my element, since I'm so used to working with pens & markers, but I enjoyed it & would love to do something similar again!
I was inspired by this post & wanted to do a similar take on it, but in my style. I kept the flower theme, but changed the outfit & the hair.
After I applied the paints & varnishes, I went back over my work with colored markers & pen/ink to add in small details where I felt it was appropriate. I scanned the final piece into Adobe Photoshop to touch colors & enhance certain details, as well as crop the artwork accordingly.
