The audience for my image set will be fellow course members, tutors, myself and those interested in quirky artefacts – products both handmade and manufactured from past times and possibly souvenirs. I intend for the audience to feel amused and interested by these odd finds from car boot sales and antiques showrooms. I am inspired by folk art and museum artefacts and am in the process of researching ‘typology’ and photographers within the product genre.

I intend to photograph six artefacts in a documentary style with minimal staging depicting the odd and unusual characteristics conveyed by the expressions and nature of the naïve style in four carved pieces and early production of manufacturing in two. I believe this will help inform my technique as I am preparing to photograph items from Trowbridge Museum archives.

I will capture the images on a chosen day this week and use a variety of methodologies to explore best positions and angles which will use studio lighting. I aim to keep a portrait 3.2 ratio to allow for text as if it were a front cover for a magazine or poster and hope to achieve dynamic backgrounds for the purpose. I hope the artefacts will provoke interest and discussion in the original concept of the design and the differences behind the making.
