The so called maiensäss settlements are a typical form of alpine pastures you can find while wandering through the Swiss alps. Mostly they're located around the treeline, somewhere between 1200 and 1600 meters of height. The origin of the settlements has to do with the month of may. During that time the cattle drives towards the higher pastures on the mountains did happen - and still do. This series is about the old paths they took and a little homage to the hundreds of years old yet still beautiful houses up here.
