Once in a while you make a drawing that you really like. Everything works out, the commission is fun, fits well with your work, and you are proud of the result. This is such a drawing for me.
Schalkwijk, a neighborhood in Haarlem, is right next to a polder where a farmer grows grass for his cows. Geese are shot here for various reasons. Local residents experience nuisance and stress from these activities. To explain the policy and its implementation, and to discuss the nuisance, the Fauna Management Unit enters into conversation with the residents of Schalkwijk. The policy is complex and has many different facets. There are many different parties and interests. The Fauna Management Unit wants to visualize this in a talking plate that will be shown in large format in community centers.
