Nextdoor: From curtain twitchers to lemonade pitchers
As a long time user of Nextdoor I wanted to take a purely speculative look a the site's logo and brand. Since I use Nextdoor daily I had a lot of thoughts...
More distinction needed to distance from older online ‘home’ buttons
In the absence of a stronger brand projecting community in a positive way I feel it is being driven by the ‘Curtain Twitcher’ element of the users who post about small and annoying things in their neighborhood. This is traditionally associated with an older demographic but certainly not restricted to it.
To combat this I felt the focus for Nextdoor’s brand should be on things that emphasize typical neighborhood activities bringing people of all ages together in positive ways such as fun runs, community events or lemonade stands.
