Old Academy Theater Lobby - Work In Progress

Old Academy Theater Lobby
Hello everyone! I decided to upload a little teaser of a project I am working on now. I almost hate to upload something that's not yet complete, but I'm so excited about this project I had to share! This project is very special because rather than it being for my design studio, this assignment is for my community service class. The Old Academy Theater reached out to Philadelphia University and asked that we redesign their lobby. Myself and three other interior design students have been working on creating a plan that tackles the problems of aesthetics, circulation, and storage with a $5,000 budget. The theater's claim to fame is that it is the starting place of the iconic Grace Kelly's acting career. Our clients asked that we include a feature wall to honor Grace and her legacy, which we included, but we also decided to take it a step further by using Grace as the inspiration for the whole space. We are using white, silver, a range of greys, red and a little bit of blush pink to represent 1940s theater, the silver screen, and the Philadelphia local, Grace Kelly.
Because of the current layout of the lobby, our clients complained about traffic being clogged at the door, which hindered the entrance of the actors because there is only one open entrance. We remedied this by adding a screen next to the door to gently lead people to the desk towards the back of the theater. This will free up the door for the actors to come in and out and also prevent the door from hanging open due to traffic jams.
We added elegant dressers with deep drawers to store the stage props such as phones and books that have no other place to be stored.

I look forward to updating all of you as this project continues to develop!
