ABOUT GLYPH

A multi-channel video and software artwork, Glyph remixes A.I. and machine learning tools—the same found in our digital devices—to explore the fluidity of modern language and our place within it.

Glyph continuously interprets a filmed conversation between the artists of Speechless about empathy and expression. The video plays on repeat, but the software translates the conversation in realtime, turning voice into a live stream of images – the most popular image on the internet for that word, in that instant.

The translation evolves as the internet and culture evolve: what is said today looks different tomorrow.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Speechless: different by design is a nationally touring exhibition presented by the Dallas Museum of Art, co-organized with the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. The exhibition presents site-specific installations by seven leading and emerging international designers that explore the vast spectrum of sensory experiences and new approaches to accessibility and modes of communication.

Featuring works by Matt Checkowski, Misha Kahn, Ini Archibong, William and Steven Ladd, Laurie Haycock Makela, and Yuri Suzuki. Curated by Sarah Schleuning
