Client: Sussex Advanced Drivers (SAD).
Client's profession: SAD are a charity that helps people become more confident an experienced on the road.
Client's location: UK.
Client's needs: Website, hosting.
Client's goals: They needed a new makeover on a 10-year-old website.
Tools used: Design - Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo.
Development: WordPress core & Gutenberg blocks, PHP, jQuery, SASS, HTML5.
As a charity, SAD did not have a lot of money to build a new website or indeed design one. In addition to this, we had the added complication that the charity was a subsidiary of another bigger charity and as a result, we were not allowed to use our own branding or logo. This meant we couldn't create a specific brand. Since the larger charity is in desperate need of modernising themselves I decided to not use any branding at all on SAD's website. Therefore we had to go for very simple, with very few colours.
I achieved this by using large imagery for colour and completely restructuring the website so each page contained a small amount of information while remaining clear, logical, and relevant.
Being a charity everyone that worked for SAD were volunteers and so their time was precious. They still only took payment via cheque and applications were sent via post to be completed and returned by post. This for me was creating needless paperwork and wasting a lot of time. I convinced them to take all their forms online and make them digital and at the same time accept payment. This has reduced their workflow significantly.
