Perfect vascular system of a leaf - Macro photography │ Iceland Photo Gallery

As I was taking these pictures, I started thinking about how impressive and perfect the vascular system of a leaf is.
All this is done in order to get the most nutrition and energy for the tree (and with it us).
Trees feed on carbohydrate compounds, but also fats and proteins. The difference is that the trees themselves produce these substances in their leaves from carbon dioxide that the leaves "breathe" from the atmosphere and water that the roots take up from the soil and then transport up to the leaves.
In these pictures, you can see the veins in one leaf, but they are located in the center of the leaf. The vascular vessels (Viðaræðar) carry water and minerals from the roots to the leaves, while the other vascular vessels (Sáldæðar) transport sugars and other nutrients produced during photosynthesis from the leaves to other parts of the plant.
One tree has xx many leaves and each one of them are unique. Not only that, but the tree has to produce new leaves every single year. Nature surprises more and more with its perfection. Let's stop for a while, enjoy nature and try to learn something from it. Let's ALL try to learn something from it. Yes and you too!
