Intergenerational building in Cabanyal

The Intergenerational building is situated in a deteriorated area, due to obsolescence of the area's original economic function and lack of socioeconomic investment. The convergence between the old maritime construction, which is known as Cabanyal, and the growth of Valencia's city has lead to an important discrepancy of typology of buildings and streets. As result of that, this area has useless urban spaces, disproportionate streets and a sociocultural problem.
On the other hand, this area has several facilities such as schools, sport centres, a hospital, etc and in addition to a easy access to city centre and the beach, which is close to the proposal area.

My proposal about the intergenerational building and community centre tries to create spaces where the local residents and the building's residents make a cultural exchange. In order to encourage this I have designed the building as extension of the street which has connected intergenerational exchange spaces along it. These exchange spaces are made of metal structures, perforated moving panels and glass to reflect lightness and mobility, in contrast to the inmobility of the residential area.
Creating these series of spaces and an elevated street along of the project site that truly interacts and makes the building more approachable and hopefully entices them in. I believe my proposal  will provide a positive contribution to the urban area and its cultural context.
