Buskers' Rights Protest

On July 8th 2013, Lunga Goodman Nono, a blind busker, was forcibly removed in an aggressive manner from his usual busking corner in the center of Cape Town by the Metro Police; who, in the process of his forced removal, smashed his only source of income - his guitar.

Within 48 hours after the incident - not only was he donated a new guitar and a recording offer; masses of buskers, music appreciators, humanitarians, punks, children, the media - everyone gathered on his corner in a peaceful protest against police brutality, for buskers' rights, and the freedom of expression and performance art.

His only crime? Playing his guitar for longer than his permit allotted time in order to provide for his family.
