Tesla: Weaving two opposite ideas
Designing a car museum is a challenge because it is very important to translate the conceptual idea of the exterior elements into the interior spaces. The most important part of designing a museum is to analyze the interaction of the people and the spaces. On exhibition areas the designer has to include another factor in this relationship which are the cars, and how people are going to perceive them.
Tesla motors was founded in 2003 to prove that electric vehicles could be attractive and at the same time energy efficient. Tesla’s goals consist on weaving two opposite ideas into one. An energy efficient yet elegant and powerfull car. Therefore this project presents ideas of intertwining the exterior and interior spaces and ideas to connect both sites. Using two materials: glass and concrete. It also has a major element, which are the spanning red columns that go from one floor to another.

Building
The building will be set in the city of Detroit in Michigan. After analyzing the site, Detroit was seen as a decaying city, were grafiti and abandoned buildings predominate. Therfore the idea of the building is to bring an air of lightness in between the stark and bold buildings. So glass predominates in the construction.
