flower refrigerator & dryer
flora는 여러 가지 이유로 버리게 되었던 생화들을 오래 보관할 수 있는 기회를 제공하여, 꽃에 담긴 의미와 추억들을 지속할 수 있는 제품 디자인 프로젝트입니다.
Flora is a product design project which presents the opportunity to keep flowers alive and to keep the meanings and memories in them for a long time.
Background
화훼시장에서 생산된 꽃 중 45%는 소비자를 만나기도 전에 시들어 폐기됩니다. 또한 소비자에게 판매된 꽃도 일회용으로 사용되고 버려지거나 관리가 되지 못해 오래 보지 못하고 버려지게 됩니다.
이렇게 꽃이 버려지게 되는 원인 중 대다수가 절화 관리가 어렵다는 점입니다. 꽃 관리가 잘 된다면 오랜 시간동안 꽃을 볼 수 있고 시들기 직전 건조를 시켜서 보관을 할 수 있다면 꽃은 더이상 번거롭고 귀찮은 쓰레기가 아니게 됩니다.
45% of flowers from the floricultural industry wither and fall into disuse even before consumers can see them. Even when sold to consumers, they also get thrown away in short because they are used only for a single event or because they do not get a proper care.
The biggest reason for this problem is that cut flowers are hard to take care. If they are well cared, we can enjoy them for a longer time, and if they can be dried just before they wither, they will never be a cumbersome waste anymore.
Ideation
절화의 평균 관상기간은 1주로 시들지 않고 오래 보관하기 위해서는 꽃이 있는 공간 온도 관리가 중요합니다. 하지만 대부분의 가정은 꽃을 다루는 공간이 아니기 때문에 꽃을 위한 공간이 없습니다. 그렇기에 Flora는 집안 어디서든 절화가 생기를 잃지 않은 모습을 보여줄 수 있도록 해줍니다.
The average duration of cut flowers is 1 week. In order to keep them unwithered, temperature management is crucial. However, most of homes are not specialized places for flowers; there is no space only for flowers. Flora makes them look lively, anywhere and anytime.

Function
꽃을 화병에 넣어두면 내부에서 나오는 냉기로 꽃이 있는 공간을 선선하게 유지시켜줍니다. 6~18도까지의 온도 조절이 가능합니다.
After the flowers are put in the vase inside, cool air is emitted and makes them kept fresh. Temperature control of 6 to 18 degree Celsius is available.
제품을 180도 회전시킨 뒤 건조 화병에 꽃을 고정시켜서 작동시키게 되면 꽃을 건조시킬 수 있습니다.
You can dry flowers by spinning the product upside-down, fixing the flowers in the drying vase, and operating.
도어 상단부는 온도와 조명, 그리고 건조를 조절할 수 있는 버튼들과 온도를 알려주는 디스플레이로 구성되어있습니다.
At the top part of the door are buttons to control temperature, lighting, and drying, and a monitor displaying the temperature inside.
화병은 꽃을 두는 화분과 건조용 화분, 두 가지로 여러가지 디자인이 있어 선택이 가능합니다.
There are two types of pots, a flower pot and a flower drying pot. So you can choose from a variety of designs.
