There are three imperfect women displayed here. They’re overweight, have barely functional legs or only one leg. However, thewonderful thing about the God we serve is that He chooses those He wants todisplay Himself through. It doesn’t matter what our capabilities are or thelack thereof, all that matters is that God has called us and
“His grace is sufficient for you, for power isperfected in weakness.”

Sometimes as individuals we allow the world toimpose their standards and expectations upon our lives. Through efforts to meetthese standards the creativity needed to be expressed my each person becomes sorigid and lost. That’s why the colours are loud, flat and there is no variationof color being mixed in the piece. As people we are all crying out to be setfrom the unnecessary expectations placed on our lives but together we keep eachother boxed in.

Depending on wherewe’re born certain marks, symbols or things have specific connotations to them. Therefore we are not the standard. I’m not advocating that everything andanything be allowed to overtake our society. “All things are lawful, but not all things are profitable. Allthings are lawful, but not all things edify” however, let us remember to in order to winall men we have to become like them. Let’s not be so quick to judge butunderstand what each other’s mark means and what it’s there for.

Media Used: Acrylic on Canvas; Unstretched
Dimensions: 13.4"* 31"

The name originated from myexperience in The Gambia. Seeing that the Muslim culture is observed herepolygamy isn't illegal. During my visits to compounds I realized that therewere many families living in close proximity and through further inquiry Inoticed that there were several women married to the same man. I noticed howgracious and caring they were to each other: four women who had to overlooktheir differences and learn to accept each other. What would our world be likeif we could over look our differences and the dissention between us would be nomore?
