AI Samples (Fall 2023)
These images are a mix of client work and personal experiments from late 2023. This is mainly Midjourney, with some Adobe Photoshop & Firefly.

The Back-and-Forth Image-to-Image Experiment
Artificial Intelligence in Art & Design. Samples of my AI art creations. I'm using my original illustrations and clay characters as prompts in DALL•E, Midjourney and other AI tools. I'm considering the AI to be a creative collaborator that I am having a conversation with. However, I am not only using text prompts in these examples...it's mostly an image conversation.

The process is:

1. I upload my original illustration to DALL•E and ask it to provide variations.

2. I download one of those variations and alter it in Photoshop. Sometimes I make a simple edit such as flipping the image or changing a color. Other times I superimpose new illustrations and photos onto the image to make it more complex. I can also delete parts of the image that I want DALL•E to re-imagine.

3. Then I upload this image back into DALL•E (or a second AI) and ask it to run variations on my variation of it's variation.

4. Repeat.

The images in these contact sheets are not necessarily in order, although you can clearly see my original illustration as well as the final variation. But this process is more of an organic mesh rather than a straight line. I circled back to earlier variations and combined them with other variations and fed those back into the AI.

Outpainting with DALL•E
The DALL•E Outpainting feature allows you to add onto an image by asking the AI to extend it beyond its original borders. You can also give text prompts to tell the AI what you want to add into the image...while matching the original style, pallet, etc. See my original photos below and then the multi-panel outpainting.
