Ego: The part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
Alter-Ego: A person's secondary or alternative personality.
Super-Ego: The part of a person's mind that acts as a self-critical conscience, reflecting social standards learned from parents and teachers.
In this piece my ego is the current me, the figure rubbing her feet, while the ballerina in the music box is my alter ego. My alter ego symbolizes my past as its wearing my last recital dress. I used color pencil and graphite as my medium. Also, I added color only to the specific areas to create a connection between the music box and my feet. The connection symbolizes the cause and effect cycle of having orthopedic damage in my feet due to my ballet history.
