Spark has come up with the design for the new Royal for Royal Auping, the famous Dutch bed manufacturer’s showpiece. Durable, stylish and with an eye for detail. That’s how Auping describes the Royal.
Spark has taken care of the design of the whole bed, including the frame, legs, headboard, bedside table and lamp.
Soft shapes in steel
The Royal is a technical tour de force with up to ten motors and smart hinge systems. Despite this, the frame certainly does not look too technical. Spark went in search of forms and materials in the design process that suit the intimacy of the bed. Spark has subtly rounded and shaped the steel profiles. The upper and the lower frames nestle into each other. And the legs can be produced in soft textiles, leather or wooden elements. The result: a unique design, that is a delight to look at from every side.

Special attention has been given to the accessories. Spark has designed the curved wooden bedside table for the Royal line; with its really open construction it appears to float. The bedside lamp is also a unique, modern design, and of course fitted with an LED. The headboard is again based on the softness of textile or leather. In terms of the technical implementation, Spark has assisted Auping’s engineering team in keeping the optimal balance between form and technique.
