Album Covers
These are the album covers I designed for my DES309 Capstone Project. These will be square A2-sized prints with animations through eyejack.

These album covers are based on my interpretation of the music I've been listening to recently. I've tried to represent the emotion the music has evoked in me through colours and images. In all my work I attempt to communicate a sense of movement and energy whether that's through shapes, lines, or vibrant colours. Photography plays a massive part in my design work. My work would not be possible without it. The photos used in my work are the product of talented photographers.

Songs:

1. Miss You - Oliver Tree, Southstar

This song is straight up fire. It's a song that makes you dance and bop your head.

The chorus says this:
I don't ever wanna see you
And I never wanna meet you again
One thing
When you're angry, you're a jerk
And then you treat me like I'm worth nothing

These lyrics express the anger that Oliver Tree is experiencing.
2. We Are The People - Empire of The Sun

This is a vibey song and makes you feel nostalgic and free. It was a song created 10 years ago and I wanted to create a cover for this song that was more modern.

I used these lyrics to come up with the sand idea:
Lie in the sand and visualize
Like it's seventy five again

The way the sand is positioned as flowing and blowing in the wind conveys that sense of freeness as well as the flowing nature of the song.

The stars were used to enhance that magical feeling the songs gives me.

3. Landline - Binki

This song makes me feel alive and I've represented that through the use of vibrant colours. The cover was based on these lyrics:

You're like a landline
Always keep my hands tied
Wonder how I like you and lie to you at the same damn time

The main image of this cover is a landline phone and bordering the cover is the coil of the phone. Representing that feeling of being trapped with that feeling of conflict of wanting to be with someone but also wanting to feel free and without responsibility.

To further express this conflicted feeling I used a rough texture on some of the elements on the cover.
4. Ojitos Lindos - Bad Bunny

This is a Spanish song and the titled translates to 'Pretty Eyes'

I had a different take on this cover. Instead of creating an album cover based on why the song makes me feel and the lyrics. I created the cover based on the existing cover. The existing cover was a drawing and I attempted to turn it into something more real. The heart is perfect because the beat of the song sounds exactly like a beating heart which is common in the reggaeton genre. This provides an alternate perspective of the original album cover.

5. Youth - Glass Animals

This song gives me feelings of happiness as well as sadness.
The cover was based on these lyrics:

Fly
Feel your mother right at your side
Don't you know you got my eyes
I'll make you fly

This is what made me use butterflies and a cloudy background as if the child was in the sky. But he's on a table dancing. The idea of the child dancing on a table was seen in the music video to the song and was something that resonated with me.
