    The challenge with this series of books was to design them in a way that balanced the serious nature of the collection while engaging the reader and not adding to the stressful qualities of the subject. From Cerebral Palsy to HIV Aids, there are a lot of difficult health issues that can effect teenagers lives. Whether a teen has the disease himself, has a friend with the diagnosis, or needs to research the subject for school work, this series of books was written and designed to provide a clearheaded and realistic perspective. Life Matters published and sells books to libraries. Some libraries shelve the books as a series, while others break them up into like-titles, and others only buy partial series. Therefore, each book needs to have shelf appeal while with its series as well as standing alone. Life Matters readers are teens with a lower than typical reading ability. While the subject matter and visual components had to appeal to a teen, the books also had to have an easy to follow layout. Read Less
