Rhizome is a continuously growing horizontal underground stem that puts out lateral shoots and roots in different directions.
AIGA Flagler Design Week | Rhizome Poster
Design Challenge:
The beginning idea for this poster was a retro style, since that seemed to be more of the style for the typeface created for it called, ‘Xtreme’. Design week is an event for graphic designers to show their work and they have a lot of activities. The idea was to have this poster emulate this; therefore, the poster was titled ‘Rhizome’. This is a root system that shoots off in different directions. So this was a great way to express designers as they branch off to their own styles. ‘Montserrat’ was the second typeface and different italics, bolds and many more styles that it had in the font family were used.

Design Solution:
When it comes to who are the clients that are going to be looking at the poster, they could be a student at Flagler, an alumni, or a professional designer looking for someone to work alongside of them. The hope for this project is to capture the attention of those interested in design week looking to find out more about it. By creating the poster the way it was, the colors and the styles of the font really helped to bring this poster together.
