PR02: Design Week Poster

This poster was designed for Design Week at Flagler college to advertise the event to students and any others who are interested in graphic design and its many facets.
The goal was to make a fun poster that stuck out and drew passerby's into the poster in order to learn more about the events, however it was difficult to create the poster with my ghost themed type in mind without it seeming like a Halloween poster. I feel as though I did well to make the poster strictly ghost themed without bleeding into a halloween theme as well.
When researching poster designs from prior events as well as those with similar themes I found which types of shapes and color schemes would work best to create my poster. The blues helped to not only add a nice hint of color to a piece that is otherwise lowly saturated to help draw eyes, but I also believe it helped to stay away from having a halloween theme. I chose to use white and light blue colored text on the back in order to help the information pop more than a black type on a lighter background as well as sticking to the ghostly theme. The supplementary text I used was Comfortaa which I believed did well to keep the more lighthearted, fun theme of the poster through its softer, curved lettering as well as being simple and easy to read. Lastly the theme "Renew" with the ghostly theme is a play on renewing ones spirits as often seeing others work or learning more about the design world can help to reinvigorate ones creative drive and inspire them.
