Kharkiv State Academy of Design & Arts — Identity

Kharkiv State Academy of Design & Arts

KSADA is a state higher educational institution in Kharkiv, Ukraine with 4 faculties and 17 departments. The Academy is one of the oldest art educational establishments in Ukraine and is also designated as a centre of the art culture.

The aim was to create a functional design system that works both inside the academy
and beyond its borders; develop a recognizable, understandable graphic language that facilitates communication with students and applicants, including foreign ones, through social networks, website, and advertising.

The identity concept is based on a layout system. It can be anything from postcards
to navigation or a digital clock that counts down the last minutes before an exam.
Stripes symbolize a trajectory of movement through hardships to the stars
(Per Aspera ad Astra) or movement across the academy's buildings also.

There is no logo. Only typography and any manifestations of linear graphics, which can
be straight, angular, sinusoids, spirals, and anything in general. Unlimited variations
and functional possibilities.

Identity does not require any colors, and you can use from black and white to fierce acid. The use of colors is based on the function of a particular material or context.

As a typeface - Aeroport. It is a relatively rigid grotesque but with a low waist, which refers to the morphology of the academy's buildings.

Also, our identity proposal has an alternative numbers set which mostly used for navigation into the academy.

Thank you.
