To design a free-form tensile canopy for a Zodiac Convention Center.
The Zodiac Convention Center
The Zodiac Convention Center is an interactive space for people to know more about their Zodiac signs, therefore to connect with themselves on a much deeper level. It also provides a platform where individuals and groups gather to promote and share common interests thereby creating new relationships.
The Structure:
The structure comprises of 12 modules where each module represents one Zodiac sign comprising of various personalized experiences.
The canopy: Explorations
The properties of tensile membranes were explored by stretching a nylon cloth over the varying forms derived from a geometric grid. Different patterns were projected on the membrane to understand and capture the visually interesting surfaces and spaces formed within.

Different patterns were projected on the prototype from the top and side in an attempt to study the movement of the nylon cloth under tension by observing the interesting patterns and shadows created.
