ALPHAPETS - Exploring the Organics of Shapes in Communication
My goal for this project was to create a few examples of hand crafted stuffed monsters based on and embodying the letters of the alphabet. I call this project Alphapets! I went through many phases while coming up with the designs. I wanted them to be easily identifiable as letterforms, while still maintaining animal features that appeal to kids and adults alike. It was a tightrope walk, but I'm happy with where I landed.
Once I had narrowed down which sketches I wanted to pursue, I started to conceptualize in a 3D sense. I really wanted to make sure I understood how it would look from all angles before I started making patterns to sew, and these sketches helped me tremendously.
These were an example of upper and lowercase I wanted to make - that way, there would be smaller "baby" versions of each letter. I love how big and little C fit together perfectly!
