Unveiled at the Spring/Summer 2022 show, the Balenciaga® Defender is the new creation of Demna Gvasalia, Art Director of the brand since 2015. It follows the success of the unmissable Triple S as well as the Track.
A daring design that draws its inspiration from an everyday object : the tire.
A notched sole, like an all-terrain tire. With this metaphor, Demna Gvasalia makes the Balenciaga® Defender a companion ready to face any test.
Cold, snow and ice are all difficult elements for humans to face.
However, through the block of ice the pair seems to resist, showing once again the ease of adaptation to any test.
Its imposing sole also conveys an image of lightness, like an inflated inner tube.
A butterfly, metaphor of lightness, supports this feeling of flexibility.
