UMSL Library UX Redesign
Advanced Problems in Graphic Design 1 Fall 2022

The objective of this project was to create a more efficient and enjoyable user experience for the UMSL Library website. This redesign required feedback from users who attempted to check out a book from the website. Empathy maps and a journey map were essential for identifying pain points and needs statements. Figma was used to reimagine the current library website based on a specific user journey.

I created four different screens that catered to the various issues the user faced. I also made a point of giving the site a more modern and attractive appearance.
Group Empathy Map: A collection of what the user is saying, doing, thinking, and feeling.
As-Is Scenario Map: This provided the phases for the user journey map.
User Journey Map
UMSL Home Page Before and After: There is easier access to the library website on the new UMSL home page.
Library Home Page Before and After: The new page is more attractive. You can easily view new and popular books. Searching is also simple and you can access the information you need much faster with the tabs at the top.
Search Results Page Before and After: The search results aren't as cluttered now. Refining your search is also simple. You get exactly what you need the first time you search and you can clearly see the availability.
Book Details Page Before and After: The details are clear and concise. You can also check out books from this page.
