The Prey, 2010
Our personal tragedies become someone else's fodder for mirth. There is no other animal as cruel as us humans. Many of us thrive on the sorrow we inflict on others. Kindness or sensitivity is looked upon as a weakness by many. We inflict the wounds and then we keep them alive. Vultures find their sustenance from the dead and the decaying, but they never kill, they wait for their prey. Inside we are all alike. Some of us just wear masks designated by society to make ourselves 'respectable' and then we prey on those who have the strength to reveal their true self. Ironic! 'The Prey' elaborates this irony.

I used watercolor wash on handmade paper and drew in the details with a pen using waterproof ink.
