The Space Inbetween

The ‘In- Between’ Space
What lies between cities? The medieval space - the space in between that cannot be defined by itself but through other spaces as markers to locate it. Michel Foucault, in his ‘Of Other Spaces’, talks of opposing spaces and their intersection that holds the displaced, dis-positioned spaces of transition. They are ever evolving, ethereal and free flowing. This concept is attached to Italo Calvino’s ‘Invisible Cities’, where one city takes multiple identities and where it begins and ends is a blurry boundary. In between all these unique cities, lies the medieval space, that favours no quality.
