Relationships (Oakland House Press, 2008) was my first photography monograph. It included images from 1975 through 2007, representing my dominate style: what is generally called "street photography," though I prefer to call them single-image stories made with the camera technique of photojournalism. My style holds true to my teenage influences: the photographers who pre-dated me, from the 1940s through the 1970s, who shot human-interest stories for magazines, most of whom were members of the Magnum agency. My photography, however, has been "self-assigned" in its production, shooting only for the art of capturing "telling moments" from the world around me, in my comings and goings of daily life and travel, in a naturalistic style that does not involve posing. This is "Part 1" of a modified version of Relationships. "Part 2" then continues the second half of the book.
