Kindled - Carving burnt wood from forest fires

/woodcarving
With the rise in the number of forest fires the world witnessed in the past year, Kindled is an effort to portray the residue left behind. Charred remains were scavenged to find appropriate pieces of wood which resemble earthy forms. With minimal reshaping, polishing and varnishing, the burnt wood is made to resemble a bird about to take flight. With this project we aim to encourage the reuse and recycle of mundane objects and refrain from tearing down our forests for wood
Wood - Teak
Tools used - Spoon knife, wood carving knife, hand grinder, sand paper
Gala polished and varnished
