Light Side is a creative, commercial video production company that offer expert services to produce television and online commercial content. They needed a new identity and so the brief was to create a bold, stylish and memorable logo and branding system that represented the company’s high quality work.
Inspiration for the proposed logo design was drawn from the idea that light is the raw element and underlining tool of a film maker that is sculpted and moulded to create video works of art. The challenge lay in visually representing light in a simple, striking way that avoids clichés. The design utilises the company’s initials ‘L’ & ‘S’ to form a cube lit from one side which both visualises the theme of light and draws directly from the name Light Side. Continuing the theme of light throughout the proposed branding a bold and contrasting use of black and white was used across stationery and web design to represent the two extremes; light and shadow. To avoid a completely washed out feel a subtle colour scheme was introduced to the photo treatments used for the web design.
